Our Team

Kevin originally started out in the banking industry where he completed his Bachelor of Business (Accounting). After spending close to 15 years in the bank Kevin then registered as a Tax Agent and in 1994 began his own Accounting practice Kevin P Scambler and Associates which subsequently evolved into ATOM Accounting & Taxation.

Kevin has built the accounting practice to primarily cater for Individuals, Small to Medium Businesses and Property Investors and has a diverse range of clients spreading throughout Australia and Overseas.

Interesting Fact: Kevin’s passions include Property, Camping, Motor Racing and Water Sports. Kevin and his wife Debbie, who also works within the practice, have been living on the Sunshine coast since 1994.

Andrew joined the ATOM team (formerly Kevin P Scambler & Associates) in 2003 and has many years experience in Public Practice. Andrew can help you out in all areas of accounting starting from very basic tax returns all the way up to large scale businesses with complex structures. He is committed to helping his clients obtain the best possible tax outcomes and gives proactive advice for tax efficiency.

Interesting Fact: Andrew doesn’t fit the mould of the stereotypical Accountant due to his outgoing personality and various interests in four wheel driving, camping, fishing and sports.

Lauren joined ATOM Accounting in June 2022 as a Trainee Accountant and has since demonstrated significant professional growth. She maintains a high level of proficiency across various accounting software platforms, ensuring she can provide expert technical support to our clients.

In addition to her software expertise, Lauren manages the preparation of individual, trust, and company tax returns. She is a meticulous bookkeeper who prides herself on absolute financial precision, consistently reconciling accounts to the cent. As a dedicated member of the team, Lauren is committed to ongoing professional development to enhance the value she provides to our clients.

Interest fact: She holds a Bachelor of Financial Planning & Accounting. Her interests are all about family & enjoying time with her twin daughters at local beaches or the parks.

Debbie has been a bookkeeper since starting work in 1979 and has gained experience in a variety of accounting packages. Initially Debbie worked within the Legal Industry performing Accounting Compliance of Trust Accounts and Wages and eventually her role expanded and evolved into the role of Office Administrator.

Debbie joined Kevin in the accounting practice to support him as the Office Administrator which includes maintaining their Financials, Payroll, Human Resources and General office requirements. This enabled Kevin to be available to service his clients in his professional capacity.

Interesting Fact: Debbie is actively involved in Netball and also shares Kevin’s passion for Property and Camping.

Anita joined the ATOM team in April 2023, initially serving as our Receptionist. Demonstrating significant professional growth, she transitioned into the role of Trainee Accountant in March 2024.

Anita is currently completing her Bachelor of Commerce, with an anticipated graduation date of November 2026. Her primary focus involves the preparation of individual tax returns, while providing essential support for company and trust compliance.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Anita is an accomplished violinist and enjoys creative interests such as knitting and cross-stitch. She also values spending time with her husband and their dog on their rural property.
